There is no disputing that this is an astonishing close-up of the insect world in crystal clear clarity. Also thought on Bluray ir would look stunning. There is no text; the entire film only has music, so language is not an issue. I would love to know. You have to see this to believe it. The packaging only shows English - will check with shipper - maybe it I open and play it might be in two languages but the packaging does not promote that....only English Very disappointing.

I saw it in the theatre when it came out but it's good on dvd too. This is because TV nature documentaries are of such a high standard now (15 years after this film was made) that you may feel you have seen similar footage of the insect world many times before. The producers have included some classical music here and there which is quite effective but its a shame they only put it in a couple of shots.I would recommend this dvd. I ordered this because it says bilingual - I want to view in French. This will leave you thinking for days. In similar vein to Reggio's seminal Koyaanisqatsi, Microcosmos is a film without commentary, other than a one-sentence introduction and a few poetic words at the close. It is the most wonderful video on insects and the meadows we have ever seen. Framed in roughly 1.66:1, so the movie have a little black bar on each side. I think it's kid friendly too.
Grainy picture which could just as easily be dvd quality. This documentary is truly captivating although there is no commentry which leaves the viewer to his/her own imagination on the images shown but they are spectacular in Blu-Ray which is a absolute pleasure to watch and very tranquil too!!
